Global Practice Head, Eastern Europe, Argentina 1038 Senior Director, Associate Vice President, or Vice President of Global Practice San Jose, CA
In this role, we are looking for a Global Practice Head Leader. The ideal person will have room to grow in the role and based on experience might join as a Senior Director, AVP, or VP of Global Practice.
As the VP or AVP, your role is to lead the global consulting practice. To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication and presentation skills to work comfortably and confidently developing and delivering solutions to the Executive suite. At the onset of engagements, you will listen to the customers needs, know the market, understand technology advancements and competitive threats to create and roadmap the best creative vision to meet and exceed the customers vision. You must be a strong leader, an effective listener to understand customers needs and define their requirements, to presenting a plan, creating a roadmap, retain resources, and deliver your direction to engineering, to obtain customers deliverables all on time and on a budget.
Practice Development Activities
- Work closely with BUs to identify existing and potential client needs which could be addressed by the practice
- Identify competency areas within the practice and people who are “go to” experts in these areas
- Identify practice core team – key people in the company with appropriate skills who will be taking an active part in practice development and sales support
- Stay on top of industry and technology trends in the practice area, building this awareness across all engineers in the practice
- Identify current practice gaps; create and execute the plan to fill those gaps and ensure company talent stays current with recent developments
- Share best practices, processes, tools, frameworks, lessons learned between projects which are part of the practice
- Define, prepare and execute training plans to increase expertise within the practice
- Build practice knowledge base
- Contribute to open source projects by available resources
- Create POCs
- Help maintain up to date case studies on practice related projects and expertise
- Search for opportunities to offer practice service (through pilot projects, POCs, consulting) to both existing clients and prospects (monitor Salesforce for opportunities)
- Maintain available “account starters” – senior engineers available to start new projects
- Delegate practice members to take part in industry events, seminars, and conferences.help Marketing team build external awareness on the market about company’s practice capabilities
- Build internal awareness within Sales and Delivery on practice capabilities through internal communication and education
- Provide pre-sales support to BUs by creating collateral, taking part in client meetings and working on proposals
- Coordinate with BUs on business development and sales activities to ensure practice capabilities are part of Sales offering
- Maintain public “face” of the practice – blog, newsletter, intranet portal, etc
- Run internal and external events to attract more engineers and build practice awareness.
Responsibilities:
- Define Practice development strategy in line with the overall business and strategic vision of GL
- Lead the process of identifying top technology practices to build and grow
- Define structure and create Practice teams
- Establish Practice development processes
- Establish an ongoing process of practices calibration based on feedback from Clients, Sales, Business Dev and Delivery.
- Lead development of tools, templates, databases and other practice aids to benefit everyone
- Establish knowledge management process for practices
- Support pre-sales process representing GL Practices
Minimum requirements for the role:
- At least 15 years of relevant experience managing professional services and/or consulting services
- At least 10 years of experience in software engineering consultancy and fluency in software development and test methodologies (Agile, XP, CD, CI, TDD, Test Automation)
- Proven success of over 10 years working with large customers within the US in at least three of the following domains: vertical – medical, telecom, media, retail, enterprise; horizontal – cloud, mobile, big data, embedded, IoT
- At least 5 years experience leading global teams; specific experience with teams in India, Eastern Europe, South America is a strong plus
- Proven excellent communications skills, demonstrating in front of customers’ C-level and executive management as well as presenting and negotiating with internal engineering teams
- Experience managing P&L
- Ability to travel to customer meetings, visit other global company development centers – about 25% of the time
- Consultancy practice experience is a huge plus
Experience leading Global teams in Eastern Europe or Argentina is strongly preferred.
