Regional Director of University Relations - International Studies Abroad - Austin, TX
International Studies Abroad, is a study abroad provider with 28 destination
countries that that encompass 73 distinct and exciting cities. ISA has been
providing quality study abroad programs for U.S. college students since 1987.
Our study abroad program sites include a variety of cities in Argentina,
Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic,
Dominican Republic, England, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland,
Italy, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Scotland, South Africa, South
Korea, Spain and Thailand. We provide short-term faculty-led programs through
ISA Custom Programs; service-learning and internships thorough ISA Experiential
Learning Abroad Programs (ELAP); and also provide study abroad programs for high
school students through our sister company ISA High School. Working closely with
the host universities abroad, ISA provides students with a study abroad
experience that is academically challenging and culturally rewarding.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
ISA Regional Directors (RD) are responsible for all recruitment efforts in their
assigned regions and will report primarily to their Associate Director,
Executive VP of University Relations, and other members of Executive Management
as appropriate. The Regional Director will be working collaboratively with
institutions in assigned regions to develop unique and innovative collaborations
with new and current US partner schools. The Regional Director will be expected
to follow standards of best practices laid out by bodies that support education
abroad. Responsibilities for the Regional Director position are detailed below:
-Travel intensively to university partners in designated region up to 15-20
weeks per year (8-10 per academic semester)
-Maintain and develop relationships with university personnel (faculty,
advisors, deans, etc.)
-Arrange campus visits in assigned region (may include information tables, info
sessions, meetings, and classroom presentations, faculty workshops, etc).
-Strategically work with institutions to identify ISA programming that fills a
curricular need at partner schools
-Work with faculty to research options that will fill an academic need of
related curricular courses
-Assist with supervising undergraduate student Global Ambassadors in assigned
region
-Research, register, prepare for, and participate in study abroad fair events
with the goal of promoting programs to students
-Distribute print media around campuses with university approval (dropping off
catalogs to Greek houses, putting up posters, proactively approaching students)
-Maintain statistical analysis of enrollments and effectively communicate this
information to partner stakeholders
-Make all logistical travel reservations (hotel, car, flight, etc.) as necessary
for work-related travel
-Maintain internal databases updated with university relevant information and
protocol collected during conferences and campus visits
-Work with the University Relations and Marketing and Communications teams to
develop a strategic marketing plan on a semester basis
-Engage in conferences by exhibiting, volunteering, networking, and/or
presenting posters and sessions
-Plan and facilitate meetings to discuss ISA and its divisions in relation to
institutional partners at all professional levels (study abroad advisors,
faculty, deans, and other notable administrators)
-Collaborate with ISA’s brands to oversee marketing and outreach initiatives
both region-wide and at specific institutional partners
-Work with ISA’s support divisions (Academic Affairs, Custom Programs,
Financial Aid, etc.) to promote initiatives, facilitate both student and
institutional partner support, and maintain relationship integrity with
International Education community
-Collaborate with ISA’s Alumni Department by managing Global Ambassadors
enrolled in professional development program in assigned region and supporting
department in interviews, training, home institution strategy, and mentoring
participants
III. Minimum Qualifications
1.Bachelor’s degree
2.Study/work/intern/volunteer experience
3.Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4.Flexibility and readiness to coordinate and experience intensive travel
5.Willingness to relocate to ISA offices in either Austin, TX or Boston, MA
IV. Desired Qualifications
1.3-5 years experience in International Education or Higher Education
2.1-2 years experience in Marketing and/or Customer Service
3.Master’s or other post-graduate degree preferred
4.Fundamental understanding of the following trends in International Education:
Curriculum Integration & Development, Higher Education Internalization, Global
Mobility of Students at the Post Secondary Level, Best Practices in
International Education (Programs & Third Party Organizations), and Diversity in
International Education among other topics of discourse.
5.Proven success with public speaking, networking and relationship building, and
working with a diverse set of professional contacts.
6.Adaptability, attention to detail and desire to learn new aspects of the
International Education field.
