Context of Job: Rabobank’s North America risk management activities must be conducted in accordance with both regional, regulatory requirements and Rabobank’s internal policies, procedures and Risk Appetite. Rabobank North America’s balance sheet totals over US$ 100bn in assets.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Provide recommendations to improve current controls / develop additional controls and enrich procedures to address control weaknesses;
- Provide expert guidance and counsel on AMA decisions to ORM business Champions;
- Lead in the execution of ORM strategy / directives for North America;
- Provide an effective analysis of key operational risk incidents, risks & control identification, and indicators for monitoring and measuring op risk;
- Oversight of audit findings for NA to ensure timely resolution and closing of audit issues;
- Partner with Operational Risk Control WRR to set and drive vision;
- Provide risk reporting that identifies areas of concern and general health of organization given results of tools in operational risk framework;
- Develop and implement processes to assess and/or monitor the effectiveness of operational risk governance frameworks / adherence to standards as appropriate;
- Championing and enhancing consistent awareness of enterprise risk management components, including policies and standards and desired risk culture, throughout the region;
- Having the regional operational risk management infrastructure meet regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Federal Reserve Regulation YY and to be published regulation of OCC;
- Escalating risk matters, that may have franchise or reputational risk and threaten to negatively impact the acceptable risk profile of Rabobank, to the North America CRO;
- Collaborating and teaming with the risk management professionals in the regional team, the US business lines and regional TRG and Finance, and risk management professionals in head office to establish and maintain an appropriate risk management culture throughout the region;
- Conduct research on industry leading practices for operational risk matters pertaining to the banking industry including board practices relating to risk governance.
- Setting up and designing Key Risk- and Control Indicators. Your Profile:
Qualifications: Essential:
- Minimum of 15 years working experience in the financial sector.
- Minimum Bachelors degree, preferably in a business related concentration.
Desirable: MBA, CPA
Job Skills and Knowledge: Essential:
- High level understanding of businesses, its processes, and requirements of BIS II AMA.
- Ability to analyze current environments and
incidents so as to identify procedural gaps and control weak nesses
- Usage of Excel, Word, Powerpoint

- Knowledge of activities and products offered in the North America region
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Experience with project management (IT projects and data management).
