Vineyard Operations Intern - The Wine Group - California

The Wine Group (TWG) is the nation’s second and the world’s third-largest wine producer by volume. TWG is a privately-held, management-owned company with revenue of over $1B. TWG operates 14 wineries in California, New York, Australia and Argentina that produce such well-known brands as Franzia, Cupcake, Corbett Canyon, Big House, Foxhorn, Almaden, and Concannon, its flagship winery located in the Livermore Valley. With annual sales in excess of 58 million cases, The Wine Group markets wine primarily in North America, Northern Europe and Asia.

JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Vineyard Analyst, this position is responsible for obtaining accurate vine counts, sounding irrigation wells, and updating the Vineyard Operations equipment inventory.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


Obtain accurate vine counts for all TWG vineyards


Sound irrigation wells to obtain the standing water levels


Monitor the sustainable well yields


Assist ranch and shop managers with getting equipment ready for harvest


Compile an equipment inventory database


Chemical Inventory

QUALIFICATIONS


High School Diploma Required / College Degree Preferred


Excellent organizational skills


Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written communication skills


Accuracy with attention to detail


Basic knowledge of agricultural work environment


Willing to travel to different vineyards as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


Must be able to lift 50 lbs.


Position requires significant travel between vineyards


Must be able to walk and drive for long periods of time


Primary work activities are in the environmental elements


Employee is exposed to wet or humid conditions


Exposed to inclement seasonal weather, summer heat, cold weather, rain


May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, farming chemicals and fertilizers
