Program Assistant, Africa & Asia - Child Family Health International - San Francisco, CA






Child Family Health International (CFHI) is a United Nations-recognized nonprofit organization providing community-based Global Health Education Programs for health science students and institutions. Our unique model fosters reciprocal partnerships and empowerment in local communities– transforming perspectives about self, healing and global citizenship. Currently, we offer nearly 40 programs in 10 countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, South Africa, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania and the Philippines). Since 1992, we’ve sent over 8,000 participants on our programs. We also support locally-driven community health initiatives in the communities in which we work.


Join the Programs Team at CFHI in the role of Program Assistant, Africa & Asia. This part-time (20 hours per week) position reports to the Assistant Director, Africa & Asia. This team that manages all of CFHI’s international partnerships and programs, academic partnerships, and student enrollment and support.


In collaboration with the Assistant Director, Africa & Asia, the Program Assistant will:


  • Respond to general and program inquires via phone/email and update student accounts

  • Correspond as needed with global partners, participants, and universities in a timely and professional manner

  • Send monthly emails to students and international partners

  • Guide students through CFHI’s application process

  • Support program outreach activities and initiatives

  • Support program evaluation and improvement projects through data collection, preparation of data for international partners, and analysis

  • Update program-related materials for Africa and Asia

  • Draft visa documents and letters of participation, invitation, and support for participants in Africa and Asia

  • Maintain/update information related to student visas for Africa and Asia programs

  • Prepare monthly program reports for Assistant Director

  • Collect on-site information from international partners

  • Maintain and update Africa and Asia programs information on CFHI website

  • Provide updates on communications with prospective students

  • Support program improvement initiatives

  • Suggest changes to improve program efficiency as needed

  • Support program-related scheduling and meeting planning

  • Provide general administrative support to the Assistant Director

  • Actively participate in staff meetings

  • Support relationship-building with alumni from Africa and Asia, connect positive alumni to outreach team

  • Support training and supervision of program interns and volunteers

  • Stay abreast on current topics in global health, global health education, and international exchange.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; experience may be substituted for education

  • Experience or interest in health, global health, or international exchange

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Extremely organized, strong attention to detail

  • Enthusiastic, proactive, highly motivated, with a willingness to learn and adapt

  • Excellent computer software skills including Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to ambulate freely

  • Ability to stay in seated position for up to 2 hours

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

  • Visual acuity required for the use of computers and reading materials

Job Type: Part-time


Salary: $20.00 /hour
