Wesleyan University’s History Department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of Latin America to begin July 1, 2017. Field of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with research interests in the modern history of Mexico, the Andean zone, or the Southern Cone [Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay]. Teaching responsibilities (2-2 teaching load) include surveys of colonial and modern Latin America and seminars. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, carrying on a program of research, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level. The successful candidate will be housed fully in the History Department but will also be a member of the Latin American Studies Program and will be able to participate in the academic planning and intellectual life of the Program. Minimum Qualifications Candidates will be expected to have a Ph.D. in History or a related field in hand by the time of appointment.
