TV & Media E2E Solution Architect - Ericsson - Plano, TX
Ericsson and TV & Media
Ericsson’s mission is to enable the future evolution of TV by creating harmonized solutions that give content owners, TV service providers, and network operators the agility to innovate, manage and monetize a new generation of rich TV experiences for the mass market. We do this by uniquely combining an award-winning open portfolio of products and solutions that span the TV value chain, complemented by world-class consulting, systems integration and managed services, with extensive consumer insight and a visionary mindset that unites the worlds of video and IP.
In Ericsson’s vision of the Networked Society we predict there will be 26 billion connected devices by 2020 and, of these, more than 15 billion will be video enabled. This connectivity will be matched by cloud services that bring ‘anything to everything’. It will transform the expectation of consumers to value ownership and storage of assets as critical. They will expect, and become reliant on, their devices being connected to high-speed and universal broadband access all of the time.
As devices become increasingly connected, so do the consumers that use them. This creates enormous opportunities for the TV and Media industry. We are in the greatest period of change and evolution since analog TV broadcasts started over seventy years ago. The opportunities are great, but so are the challenges to the existing value chain and the players within. Vision, innovation and focusing on the consumer are the winning formula for the future.
Ericsson’s Media Vision 2020 is our view of the future, created to paint a picture of how the TV and media landscape will evolve. It is underpinned by our unique position that spans the entire media value chain, across the convergence of media and telecoms backed by our deep insight into consumer trends. Through combining our understanding of the market with quantifiable research we have set out to help our industry recognize what it needs to prepare for the journey ahead.
The strategies for success employed during the past decade will not deliver success in the new era of TV. TV is a new game and it’s time to play!
