Your Function:
Job Overview/Purpose:
NAW’s Core Compliance function is responsible for Compliance reporting, training, testing, development of compliance policies and procedures, risk assessments and completion of special projects that originate from Head Office and other areas of the bank.
Due to an increased regulatory emphasis on conducting independent compliance testing as a critical control for regulated financial institutions, NAW Compliance has a very broad testing mandate across NAW’s businesses and support functions. In addition, Head Office requires local compliance testing teams to perform in-depth assessments as a means of identifying and remediating risks associated with its banking activities.
This compliance officer will participate in designing, developing, and executing the NAW testing program.
Context of Job:
The Core Compliance function is part of the Compliance Department for NAW. Core Compliance provides compliance support service to employees in all NAW entities and locations including the NY Branch, Rabo Securities USA Inc., the Canada Branch, and the US and Mexico representative offices. Due to the nature of the activities conducted within the function, employees from Core Compliance have frequent interaction with employees in all business units.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Report to Head of Compliance Testing Group
Collaborate with other Core Compliance team members
Review and provide input into expanding the BSA/AML, Bank, Markets/Broker-Dealer Testing Program
Conduct reviews contained in the NAW testing program and special reviews mandated by Head Office
Prepare detailed test reports
Collaborate with process owners to design remediation plans to address findings and observations related to the BSA/AML, sanctions, Bank and Markets/BD areas
Update internal records used to track remediation efforts
Report/discuss significant findings with Manager
Assist with the completion of Special Projects
Comply with all US laws, rules and regulations, including without limitation, AML and OFAC/Sanctions requirements and the reporting of suspicious activity (and all related policies, procedures and guidelines), as well as the:

Prior Audit, Compliance or Risk Management experience (preferably 5-7 years)

Professional certifications including, e.g., Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (“CAMS”), Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”) or Certified Internal Auditor (“CIA”)

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of financial industry regulatory compliance, operating in a matrixed environment, with increasing responsibility.
Good knowledge and understanding of banking laws and regulations. Basic understanding of securities laws and regulations preferred.
Experience in developing and implementing effective compliance policies, programs and procedures, including training programs and training content.
Strong cross-cultural interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Strong project management skills.
