CAP Lab Director - Eurofins - Lancaster, PA

Eurofins Central Laboratory division works for pharmaceutical companies (sponsors), managing the performance of clinical trials. In a clinical trial patients receive the recently developed drug in different concentrations. In order to determine the effect of these drugs, blood and urine samples are taken from these patients and sent to one of the Eurofins labs for analyses. The lab results are sent to doctors (investigators) to inform them on the patient’s health and the effect of the drug.

Eurofins Central Laboratory has a current opening as a CAP Lab Director for their Lancaster, PA facility.This position will report to the Global CAP Director.

Purpose of the Job and Expected Outcome

The Director is qualified by education and either training or experience to provide technical consultation for each of the specialties and subspecialties of service in which the clinical laboratory performs testing. Participates in the development and achievement of quality, service, outcomes research, fiscal productivity and customer/employee satisfaction goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Oversee quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing and compliance of laboratory testing .
  


• Develop, validate and implement new tests and procedures for the clinical laboratory and in support of Clinical Trials.
  


• Provides input and recommendations in the selection of analytical equipment and methodologies for the clinical laboratory.
  


• Provide technical support and expertise to laboratory manager(s) and supervisors.
  


• Develop protocols and oversee laboratory testing and equipment evaluation .
  


• Provide technical support for clinical laboratory staff.
  


• Provide technical support, test information, and participate in conference calls and meetings with Clinical Trials staff and ECL clients.
  


• Works collaboratively with the Global Lab Director and other CAP Directors in developing and overseeing the process for global lab correlations within ECL laboratories.
  


• Ensures that the clinical laboratory meets the requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  


• Assist in the development of a business operational plan for the clinical laboratory based on the company’s strategic plan.
  


• Provides input and advice to the Global Sales group regarding appropriate testing and methodologies and related aspects for the preparation of quotations new clinical trials.
  

Position Specifications and Job Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 10 years clinical laboratory experience required.
  


• Thorough knowledge of a Central Laboratory operation
  


• Prior experience as a College of American Pathologists’ Laboratory Director
  

Education

Education: Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry or related field required.

Certification/License

• American Board of Clinical Chemistry
  


• Certification in clinical laboratory specialty by national certification agency or advanced degree in relevant clinical specialty.
