Primary responsibilities and accountabilities of this role:
– Research, interpret, and apply tax laws and regulations.
– Monitor tax publications to stay abreast of changes in laws and regulation affecting tax returns.
– Correspond with state and local tax authorities
– Prepare, review, and analyze multi-state tax returns.
– Review and interpret complex financial data
– Analyze and prepare responses to customer issues involving areas of jurisdiction responsibility.
– Communicate verbally and in writing with taxing jurisdictions. Submit notice and backup documentation to be imaged and indexed.
– Analyze, develop, document and follow-up on plans. Interpretation of correspondence received from jurisdictions and related reports.
– Respond to jurisdiction e-mails and calls. Prioritize, document, resolve or assign in the client log.
– Responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with assigned jurisdictions related to tax return filing.Role PurposeAnalyze, research and document tax laws and regulations and their potential impact on products (e.g. tax returns, etc).Research and respond to client inquiries as directed by management.Prioritizes, assesses risk for correspondence and assessments. Initial and primary contact for taxing jurisdictions that call, email or fax requests related to tax filings. Responsible for updating documentation.

Qualifications
Technical / Professional Skills & CompetenciesStrong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with all levels.Strong aptitude for detail.Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and to consistently meet deadlines.Demonstrated ability to research laws and regulations, including ability to utilize online research tools.Ability to research, interpret and perform in-depth analysis of financial data and apply tax lawAbility to identify root cause and recommend correction actionRelevant tax and/or legal knowledge.Intermediate to advanced software skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Adobe and Access)Intermediate skills using imaging software (e.g., Paint Shop Pro, PageMaker, Adobe In-design, Adobe Photoshop)Working knowledge of tax software.Ability to learn new technologies and ideas quickly.Ability to adapt quickly to change.Ability to prioritize and multitask and to consistently meet deadlines.Ability to build successful relationships and to interact successfully with various tax authorities.Ability to work and learn independently with minimal supervision.Relationships: Internal / ExternalWork with team membersMaintaining client/jurisdiction relationships, both internal and external.Build and maintain positive relationships and interactions with various tax and/or legal authorities.At Thomson Reuters, we believe what we do matters.
