Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or Physical SciencesMinimum 15-year experience trading Latin American international sovereign bond issues in USD in New YorkSpecific extensive experience in trading Mexico and Pemex OR Argentina, the Argentine Provinces, YPF and the City of Buenos AiresExtensive experience with the US Treasuries and the US Swaps marketsStrong familiarity with the macro situation of all the major Latin American economies and more specifically for the sovereign credits being tradedStrong analytical mindExcellent risk management skillsVery good communication skillsProficient in Bloomberg, Excel, Murex and StarExcellent familiarity with all major US Credit funds and London-based Credit funds that manage Latin American international sovereign bond issues in USDBe well known to and respected by major US and London-based institutional investorsEthical and trustworthy individualIndividual that is hungry and highly drivenIndividual with a strong presence and a visionIndividual interested in the opportunity of building the BBVA Latin America Credit Trading businessFINRA Series 7, 63 and 24Must meet credit history and criminal background requirements associated with Financial Industry Regulatory Authority registration process, to include FBI fingerprint criminal history, review of credit report, civil litigation, liens, and other public recordsCandidates must have US Work Authorization as BBVA cannot sponsor visas for this position.

Functions


Senior professional responsible for the trading and risk managing the entire Latin America Credit Tradingbooks in New York.Implement a market-making and risk management strategy in Latin America Credit/External Debt TradingManage and supervise a group of 3 to 4 traders focused on trading Latin American USD denominated international sovereign, quasi-sovereign and corporate bond issuesPersonal focus will be on managing a market making book of Mexico and Pemex bondsPersonal focus will be on managing a market making book of Argentina, the Argentine Provinces, YPF and the City of Buenos Aires bondsSupervise and implement overlay hedging strategies using US Treasuries when necessaryWork very closely with the fixed income BBVA sales teams in New York, Europe, Latin America and Asia to develop a first-class customer flow businessTrade Latam USD-denominated International Sovereign bond issues with all the major global credit funds that manage portfolios of Latin American external debtBuild detailed risk reports reflecting all the bond positions, the market and credit risks and the market sensitivities for the portfolio for which the professional is responsible
