VP, Human Resources, International Insurance - Prudential - Newark, NJ

Prudential International Insurance (PII) continues to be one of Prudential’s fastest growing and most profitable business groups. PII has operations in eleven countries around the world (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, India, China, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Poland, and Italy) and is looking to fill a VP, Human Resources position based in Newark, New Jersey.


Reporting to the VP Human Resources, International Businesses the position is responsible for identification of leadership requirements of the business and implementation of appropriate development and coaching initiatives. The position also ensures implementation of initiatives for succession planning, high potential management, career management and talent mobility. Responsibilities also include program management and consulting on HR aspects of mergers and acquisitions. The person will partner closely with HRCs to ensure that strategies and initiatives align with the needs of the business and to facilitate execution.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for Strategic workforce planning efforts to identify capabilities and leadership requirements for future growth.

  • Ensure implementation of enterprise wide succession management program and initiatives in PII; manage the corporate succession management process.

  • Lead development and deployment of strategies that ensure PII has a healthy succession bench; manage executive assessments and broader talent development initiatives.

  • Monitor key position successor development progress; partner with Regional HRCs on cross functional/cross border development efforts.

  • Work with the Talent organization on development of local training programs for PII countries.

  • Ensure a coordinated strategy for identification and development of talent early in their career; oversee programs that ensures development of such talent over the longer term

  • Develop and execute Talent Mobility strategy to attract talent from across the organization to PII, facilitate mobility assignments and maintain a pipeline of such talent.

  • Support on-boarding and career management of people on mobility assignments, repatriation

  • Ensure high quality executive on-boarding programs that help integrate new hires successfully into PII

  • Provide consulting on HR aspects of mergers and acquisitions to HR contacts; through best practice sharing, institutionalizing processes and knowledge build overall capability

  • Partner with VP HR, International Businesses to develop HR talent

  • Partner with Head Strategy in building knowledge and talent strategy for Africa entry

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required, advanced degree preferred. The person should be a PHR/SPHR

  • Experience as an HR Consultant supporting a business unit(s) on various aspects of HR domain

  • Proven experience in developing and executing talent and succession strategies

  • Merger and Acquisition expertise is strongly desired; experience in HR due diligence and integration will be of high value

  • Strategic mindset and ability to communicate a strategic vision

  • Strong ability to build relationships and influence others

  • Strong talent mindset

  • Strong consulting ability

  • Strong communications and project management skills

  • Experience working with data and utilizing analytical insights to drive new initiatives

  • International experience and language abilities is an advantage
