Your Function:
Rabobank’s North American risk management activities must be conducted in accordance with both regulatory requirements and Rabobank’s regional and global internal policies and procedures. Rabobank North America’s balance sheet totals over US$ 90bn in assets.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
To advise, influence and realise improvements to the Liquidity and Structural Interest rate risk management framework to achieve internal, industry best practices and regulatory expectations ; this may involve input to new risk management policies, proposing amendments to existing policies or streamlining procedures, methodologies and measurement tools


Assist in timely reviews of Risk Appetite Statements/LCS for entities and CUSO. Prepare and review ‘Limit and Control Structures’ for committee approvals.


Ensure regulatory queries are assessed and responded in a timely and comprehensive manner that reflects Rabobank’s risk control framework.


To (coach and direct junior members of the Balance Sheet risk team to upskill the departments capabilities) & provide cover (on rare occasions) for the daily/monthly reporting requirements relating to liquidity risk function.


Identifying, measuring, monitoring and reporting on the aggregate risk profile, including emerging trends and concentrations, across the region, and enforcing compliance with policies.


Monitoring adherence to funds transfer pricing policy.


Serving as an independent and objective central point for all risk-related issues that affect the regional entities’ balance sheet risk profile and their short- and long-term funding plans on both an entity and regional basis as well as enforcing adherence to the funding policy. Ensuring business strategies are in line with balance sheet risk appetite.


Deliver Risk opinions for new business activity and Appetite/LCS limit requests with respect to Liquidity and Structural Interest rate risk changes.


Collaborating and teaming with the risk management professionals in the regional team, the US business lines and regional TRG and Finance in addition to risk management professionals in head office to establish and maintain an appropriate risk management culture throughout the region.


Oversee development, implementation and maintenance of the departments Business Continuity Plan.


Active participation in team meetings.


Other related duties as required.


Your Profile:
Qualifications:
Essential:
University-level degree in finance, economics, statistics, business or mathematics


Fluent in English language


Desirable:
Graduate degree


Job Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
To be considered you must have a minimum of 8 years experience in a risk management role for a financial institution or a combination with years that include a relevant risk balance sheet risk management and/or regulatory experience within a large complex US banking organization. Excellent quantitative skills.


Desirable:
Fluency in Asset and Liability risk management concepts.


Sound product knowledge of interest rate derivatives, foreign exchange, money market, fixed income and vanilla option products. Your quantitative background should demonstrate an understanding of linear product pricing and vanilla option product exposures.


Experienced in interacting with regulators, auditors, executive management and Boards.


Prior experience with ALM systems i.e. QRM/Moody’s and trading systems e.g. Kondor+, Bloomberg.


Strong Microsoft Office with advanced Excel/Access skills (VBA desirable).


Excellent report writing and presentation skills.


Experience with project management (IT projects and data management).


Analytical with strong attention to detail and ability to understand the “bigger overall picture”.
