Your Function:
Responsible for supporting the Head of Internal Audit (IA) North America Wholesale (NAW) to consistently deliver an independent, well-executed, risk-based internal audit plan, and for conducting audits. The employee provides support to the Head of NAW IA by performing certain functions required to manage the function. Such functions will generally be specifically delegated.
The employee will predominantly plan, manage, and execute compliance focused audits, including the Bank’s BSA/AML Programs (KYC, OFAC, US Patriot Act, Sanctions, etc.). Key areas of activity include Regulatory Compliance for Lending and Markets activities. Duties include the audit of policies, standards, programs, procedures, controls, systems, regulations, and the related internal control systems for efficiency, economy, and effectiveness. The Audit Manager coordinates this program with other audit expertise areas (for example IT audit) in order to maximize effectiveness of audit activities.
Context of Job:
IA operates under a Charter approved by the RN Executive Board. IA help the Bank accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. IA conducts audits and furnishes management with analysis, advice and recommendations. As part of this IA evaluates whether businesses comply with internal policies, standards and procedures, and whether legislative or regulatory requirements are appropriately addressed. IA work with each business area to evaluate whether adequate internal controls are implemented to manage business risks associated with their operating activities, fostering quality and continuous improvement in control processes. IA provides a consulting service at the request of management for new products, new systems and other developments. IA liaises with the various governance groups as needed.

Co- sign off of audit reports and files.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Assist in the planning, management and execution of allocated audits
Manages audit staff in the execution of audits ensuring adherence to audit methodologies and standards
Develop and maintain relationships with management in order to remain informed of developments that affect the control environment. Assist with the co-ordination of client expectations
Co-develop and maintain the client file, risk analysis and audit plan
Monitor the execution of the audit plan, and risk developments that impact on the plan
Assist with administrative tasks such as the preparation of key departmental reports
Assist with the definition of the audit projects and ensure endorsement by the client
Assist and/or manage the closure and validation of regulatory tasks and findings
Develop audit programs
Develop and present audit findings with appropriate bank management
Make quality decisions regarding the content and presentation of reports
Assists audit staff in improving their own skill sets through training and direct coaching
Key Relationships:
AR management. Colleagues from Internal Audit NY, as well as others in the Region / from ARG overseas
Management and its staff from the respective business and support functions, in particular from the Compliance area

Report (possible) major risks on a timely basis. Also signal matters when they occur that could become a risk to the operations of the bank
Ensure that all audits are conducted in compliance with the standards and agreed audit methodologies
Ensures adequate and timely communication with Heads of NAW and NA regarding progress
Act as an independent partner in business who challenges management in identifying and addressing risks that may jeopardize the realization of business objectives
Ensure all audit reports are completed with minimal revisions, and are sent out in draft and final within the approved timelines

Strong knowledge of US Compliance subject matter, including BSA/AML
Knowledge of banking activities and related regulations
Knowledge of audit methodologies and tools

Qualifications:
Essential:
Minimum of:
10 years overall bank and US Compliance experience in Internal and/or External Auditing and/or Regulatory examination/supervision
8 years of BSA/AML experience
5 years in a role managing a small teams and concurrent audits
Demonstrable expertise and experience in audit and US regulatory compliance and accounting
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
Desirable:
CAMS Certification or similar
Membership of appropriate professional body e.g. IIA, CPA or MBA, or equivalent experience
