Sr. Manager, Quality North America

Mission:

Protect and improve quality and food safety performance across the NorthAmerican region. Includes qualitymanagement of third-party packaging, oversight of Beam Suntoryoperating unit quality, and quality leadership among non-manufacturingfacility functions in North America.

Duties & Responsibilities:

– Manage the technical side of Beam’s selection of third-partypackaging locations in North America. Conduct qualification audits based on Beam’;s food safety and quality standards and determinefeasibility of co-packer. Develop andimplement co-packer technical manuals.

– Manage the quality and food safety performance of existing co-packers, including surveillance audits, corrective actions on consumer andcustomer complaints, routine quality data, and generalimprovement initiatives.

– Lead the resolution of quality-related incidents throughout the supply chainusing fact-based processes to minimize risk to consumers and Beam’sbrands.

– Lead the development of global standards for quality and food safety acrossBeam manufacturing facilities and support functions. Coordinate roll-out of new standards andrevisions, including training of personnel.

– Support supplier quality/food safety efforts for Beam Suntory in the region, as part of the supplier relationship management system. Conduct qualification and surveillance auditsof suppliers where needed, providing approvals and improvement actionsper Beam standards.

– Lead, facilitate, and participate in risk assessment sessionswith project teams for the qualification of new ingredients, packagingmaterials, and products. Manage the startup of new products or material changes atco-packers from a quality standpoint.

– Assist with implementation and maintenance of integrated management systems(ISO 9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO 22000/HACCP) atBeam operating units and support sites.

– Assist Global Quality Director in development and implementation of qualitystrategy, including key performance indicators, projects toimprove product quality, and other technical improvements.

Desired Qualifications:

– Seven years leadership/management experience in a manufacturing qualitysetting. Food industry, especially beverage alcohol is a plus.

– Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP quality management systems. Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 is a plus.

– Demonstrated understanding and application of technical skills includingunderstanding of a broad set of quality engineering skills:

– Statistical process control

– Formal risk assessment

– Process capability

– Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem solving skills

– Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

– Demonstrated Quality auditing skills. Certified ISO auditor is a plus.

– Must be able to travel. This includes:

– Operating units and suppliers within the EMEA region

– Co-packers in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina

– Must have strong communication and organizational skills.

– Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field

– Post-graduate degree (related Science or MBA) is a plus

– External certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager is a plus
