We combine industry expertise with innovative technology to deliver critical information to leading decision makers in the financial and risk, legal, tax and accounting, intellectual property and science and media markets, powered by the world’s most trusted news organization.Role PurposeProvides legal interpretation in the form of research, analysis, and writing to support the development and maintenance of Thomson Reuters information in all media, and ensure that published information contains and delivers premium content.ResponsibilitiesLegal Research, Analysis and WritingCreates and classifies legal information in the form of headnotes, historical notes, abstracts/synopses, headings, analysis, indexes, highlights, and other text.Reviews and edits legal information created by other employees, authors, freelancers and others.Identifies key legal issues in editorial materials.Editorial ResponsibilityAdheres to editorial publishing schedules and quality standards.Consults with multiple departments regarding the business aspects of publications as required.Verifies own work and that of colleagues and external contributors as required for accuracy, completeness, and quality and ensures that the information is properly presented and organized.Maintains and develops legal knowledge and skills training as required to complete work and stay current on legal trends and developments related to the employee’s editorial responsibilities.Individual and Leadership DevelopmentParticipates in the employee evaluation process (both wider feedback and self-evaluation).Scope & ImpactPrioritizes own work.Solves a range of straightforward problems; analyses possible solutions using standard procedures and implements as directed.Receives a moderate level of guidance and directionDecisions impact own work deliverables and are largely guided by guidelines, policies, and production schedules.Interprets customer needs and assesses requirements
Qualifications
Technical / Professional Skills & CompetenciesStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.Exceptional attention to detail.Ability to interpret, analyze, select, organize, and communicate complex legal material.Understands the publishing workflow and how this role contributes.Demonstrates competence on company specific systems necessary to perform job functions and in navigating on-line research tools.Ability to prioritize tasks/projects.Able to collaborate successfully in a team environment.Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all contacts, both in and outside Thomson Reuters.Relationships: Internal / ExternalCompetently develops and maintains relationships with content providers and stakeholders as required, escalating issues as appropriate.May interact with customers, escalating issues as appropriate.May provide support for contract negotiations.At Thomson Reuters, we believe what we do matters.
