We deliver this must-have insight to the financial and risk, legal, tax and accounting, intellectual property and science and media markets, powered by the world’s most trusted news organization.Role PurposeResponsible for the analysis, definition, design, construction, testing, installation, modification, and maintenance of properly engineered information systems, containing software as the major component to meet agreed business needs.ResponsibilitiesWrites new software, makes modifications to existing software, or integrates software applications and modules in accordance with agreed upon specifications provided by othersCreates and executes unit testing and integration testing ensuring module meets requirementsExecutes on provided designMay provide technical support to operations or other development teamsCreates and maintains all required technical documentation / manual related to assigned components to ensure supportability.Makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements, which will typically be reviewed by a more senior developer.Implements solutions as directed within standardsParticipates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work.Typically works on one project at a time and as a member of the project team(s) or as part of a specialist cross-project team on multiple developments.Works on smaller, minimally complex projects or a particular system or application within larger projects that requires a singular area of expertiseProvides status updates for own scope of work within projects.Participates in internal team and status meetings.Develops software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to team/company standards and software best practice guidelines, and corporate policies.Scope & ImpactWorks independently within defined parameters, with technical and management guidance, taking ownership of problems within own area of knowledge.Key responsibility areas are reviewed.Decisions taken are made within guidelines set by others.Accountable for the quality of own work, delivered within agreed procedures and timeframes, and focused on internal and/or external customer needs.Impact is within the immediate project/development team.
Qualifications
Technical / Professional Skills & CompetenciesExperience with one or more programming languages, software engineering methodologies, computer science principles.General understanding of software development quality processes.Good written and oral communication skillsGood problem solving capabilitiesRelationships: Internal / ExternalRegularly communicates and shares knowledge, including upward communication of work status e.g. to project managers.Works as part of a team, completing varied work assignments and collaborating with others as required.May communicate with customers, stakeholders to exchange information, understand requirements, and solve problems.At Thomson Reuters, we believe what we do matters.
