We run two technical centers, one in Belgium and one in the United States. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art micro- and mini-malting facilities, as well as pilot breweries. We also have access to two beverage application centers and two food innovation centers, giving customers superior R&D and innovation capabilities.
Position Purpose
Provide leadership to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the production asset, through maintaining, repairing, controlling, updating and improving plant equipment and systems, specifically focusing on automation and electrical systems and associated equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
35% – Monitor, maintain, repair, and upgrade plant automation network ( including PLC’s, servers, Switches-hubs, PC’s, client-server connection) within the boundaries of budget to ensure process control and continuity. Includes after hrs & weekend remote support.
35% – Monitor, maintain, repair, and upgrade plant electrical instrumentation & information systems and equipment within the boundaries of budget to ensure process control and continuity.
10% – Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training, including skills training, safety training and procedural training to ensure regulatory compliance and proficiency in work.
10% – Champion, support and role model food and operational safety programs/practices in partnership with EH&S and operations management.
10% – Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Produce and deliver malt according to customer specifications, within preset budgets and in conformance with all Cargill and BU Policies and Procedures.
Will trouble shoot and be able to maintain PLC ladder logic, fuction blocks , PLC, cards, racks, power supplies, etc. As well as numerous instruments and 4 – 20 MA devices.
Will interact with and occasionally assist and direct the local electricians to repair equipment and devices.
Will train employees in Cargill’s Automation projects and changes, as well as utilizing safety standards and employee’s safety. Person in the job will be knowledgeable in the area of production processing and be able to interact to achieve the desired results for production. Should be involved in tracking the plant budgets and how processing parameters affect operating costs, efficiencies and product quality.
2 year Technical degree in AEI and/or 2+ yrs of work experience in an equivalent role.
PLC Automation & Ladder Logic and function block programming experience using Allen Bradley PLC’s, software and Allen Bradley Scada or HMI software.
Previous experience with grain handling equipment or relavant industrial setting.
Understanding of requirements to maintain food safety and employee safety. (ie. OSHA, USDA, FDA, HACCP, ETC.)
Knowledge of best practices and troubleshooting skills regarding computer networks/IT, automation, controls, programming, process systems.
The ability to develop/design, read and interpret drawings, P&ID’s and equipment specifications
Proven problem solving, decision making, and organization/prioritization skills
Proficient in software applications, including MS Office programs
Experience with electrical & mechanical equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a food processing or packaging operation.
Mechanical aptitude with grain handling equipment.
