Regional FSQR Manager - Cargill - Spiritwood, ND
We run two technical centers, one in Belgium and one in the United States. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art micro- and mini-malting facilities, as well as pilot breweries. We also have access to two beverage application centers and two food innovation centers, giving customers superior R&D and innovation capabilities.
The primary responsibility of the Regional Quality Manager role is driving customer focus in all processes across the malt plants through managing the systems, implementing business improvements and reviewing the performance of the malt division to reduce customer complaints and produce a safe malt product. It also includes the overseeing of the laboratory services for support to Operations, to R&D and to substantiate the Certificates of Analyses.
Principal Accountabilities:
25% – Provide direct leadership, talent development and support that enables effective Quality Assurance and Quality Control capabilities.
25% – Provide oversight that ensures the provision of cost efficient and reliable laboratory services. Provide role modeling, leadership, support and guidance to the laboratory team.
15% – Coordinate with BU wide resources and provide coaching and direction to ensure business improvement, meeting regulatory, food safety and customer requirements through effective quality systems. Lead all business activities to ensure safe food production and maintain certification to ISO 22000:2005 and other quality standards for each malt plant.
15% – Reduce repeat customer complaints by analysing trends, driving root cause analysis investigation and reviewing the effectiveness of corrective actions. Implement actions from customer audits.
15% – Reduce the number of raw material rejections or complaints by driving a supplier expectation and review process including supplier audits.Work with Regional Technical & Development Manager to ensure support for new variety testing and customer approvals
5% – Monitor the environmental program for the malt division by reviewing the environmental management plans maintained at each site and benchmarking the plant performance
Qualifications
Required:
A Degree in Food Science or relevant discipline
Auditing qualifications in food safety, quality and environmental systems
A minimum of five years in a quality or technical role within the food industry
Knowledge of food safety and quality systems in a manufacturing environment
A minimum of two years supervisory or management experience
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently, be self motivated and proactive
Contribute in a team environment through developing positive working relationships that are based on trust and integrity
Commitment to performance excellence
Ability to prioritise tasks, use knowledge and initiative to problem solve promptly
Travel to all plants and assess external storage facilties
Preferred:
Lead Auditor qualifications in food safety, quality and environmental systems
6 years supervisory or management experience
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Six Sigma training and experience
Supervisory or management training
Experience in the cereal transformation industry, malting and brewing knowledge is a plus
