Environmental Engineer II - The Wine Group - Ripon, CA

JOB SUMMARY


Under the direction of the Director of Environmental Services at the Ripon, CA location, the Environmental Engineer II directs the implementation and practice of hazardous materials requirements such as Cal ARP Risk Management Plan (RMP) and Process Safety Management (PSM). Evaluates air, water, and land systems to determine if they meet regulatory and good management practices, and assists wineries to implement appropriate corrective action if necessary. Manages engineering projects from design through installation and commissioning focusing on operational and infrastructure projects with environmental regulatory, energy conservation, and pollution reduction implications.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


  • Understand the technical requirements and direct the implementation, practice and maintenance of RMP and PSM for ammonia refrigeration systems

  • Possess a strong working knowledge and understanding of Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations in all media with a focus on hazardous materials and air compliance

  • Analyze, interpret and understand laws and regulations enacted by State, Local, and Federal Agencies, its impact on company’s operations and provide recommendations to implement lawful and cost effective compliance

  • Recommend ways of decreasing pollutants and waste and bring new technology to the attention of management that will allow more cost efficient waste treatment

  • Direct work of others and meet deadlines for filing of regulatory reports

  • Attend, participate and represent our company in government or private committees and industry groups in the process of formulating balanced laws and regulations affecting environmental matters

  • Manage small and large scale engineering design and construction projects, including direct management of contract personnel

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related science

  • Must have 5 to 7 years of experience in dealing with environmental issues

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid California State Driver’s License

  • Must have an excellent safety record

  • Must be able to read, fully comprehend, and implement requirements of laws, regulations, and technical documents

  • Must be willing to continue to upgrade professional competence by attending appropriate seminars, meetings, and trainings

  • Support and model all company procedures and policies

  • Must possess basic core competence and excellent analytical skills

  • Ability to travel frequently between facilities, industry meeting/events which may require overnight stay.

  • Must display clear communication, guidance, and development consideration for direct reports

  • Must have a working knowledge and understanding of industrial refrigeration systems Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills with attention to detail

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Working environment has exposure to both indoors and outdoors and related warehouse/production equipment and associated noise levels

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks in the warehouse/production environment
