The Lead Technologist – Produced Water Treatment will work on advancing GE Water and Process Technologies’ efforts in the field of produced water treatment from unconventional oil and gas resources. In this role, you will execute this technology initiative by partnering with the business / marketing team, process engineering, Global Research Center, Oil & Gas Technology Center, and the Water technology organization.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Lead Technologist – Produced Water Treatment, you will:
- Further the development of primary treatment offerings from GE W&PT (Water & Process Technologies) for unconventional oil & gas customers
- Develop relationships with key customers and understand current and future needs for managing their flowback and produced water streams, taking into account a balanced view of treatment costs and available options including disposal wells, reuse, and discharge
- Develop relationships with 3rd party and start-up companies in this space and constantly evaluate
- Provide technical due diligence for potential acquisition and partnering opportunities identified by the business
- Partner with GE Oil & Gas Shale 360 to develop GE’s comprehensive offering in flowback services
- Partner with the GE Oklahoma Oil & Gas Technology Center (OGTC) to align priorities with the Water business and execute on a program deck that furthers GE’s differentiated offering
- Monitor developments in other countries, e.g., Argentina, on their emerging needs for flowback and produced water treatment, develop relationships with Global Research Center in Brazil
- Lead concept validation efforts in the lab/bench scale as well as piloting and scale-up
- Leverage process engineering team for scale up and engineering
- Use Fastworks principles to drive the program, thinking creatively on key MVP’s that would enable the team to arrive to answers in an efficient manner
- Partner with the GRC (Global Research Center) team and Intellectual Property Engineers to develop IP and competitive landscapes
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (Or a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in the area of product / process development and optimization for water treatment)
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in the area of product / process development and optimization for water treatment
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel 30% of the time, as required

Desired Characteristics
- Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of unit operations used in water and waste water treatment
- Knowledge of produced water treatment, specifically primary treatment as done today in the United states using conventional equipment/technologies
- Motivated self-starter with the personal initiative who can shape and execute a growth platform
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams including; personnel from Technology / Engineering, Sales, and Marketing
- Ability to plan and perform work alone and as a team member
- Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments
