WTH is a Geospatial Content Curator?

Boundless is seeking a talented individual to take on the monumental task of curating a well-rounded catalog of geospatial data sources. You’ll work with the open data community to identify, validate and catalog various sources of geospatial data and make sure they’re available and interoperable with open source tools. You’ll also work with partners and premium data vendors to make sure we can connect to their data too.

Responsibilities:
Create and maintain quality and performance standards for data providers and sources

Design and dog-food workflows for on-boarding various types of data sets made available in disparate ways

Validate and catalog data, adding metadata and other information as necessary, to allow easy discovery and consumption

Work with premium data partners to manage access and ensure we both adhere to terms

Track down and onboard new and interesting data sets as they are made available

Work with customers, Boundless support and data providers to troubleshoot issues with accessing data services or downloads

Working with project/product teams to ensure a smooth integration and access from mobile, web, desktop and other TBD platforms

Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience with geospatial data, interchange formats and software

In depth knowledge of metadata and discovery service standards (CSW, Opensearch etc) as well as GIS service formats (WMS, WFS, WCS…and other less standardized ones)

Experience with open data including OSM, federal data sets, community

Good written and oral communication in English

Ability to prioritize and juggle, comfortable working with remote teams

Bonus Points for:
Having an OSM login with edits older than this job posting

Being aware of, and active in, the FOSS4G community

Scripting, coding and general IT profficiecy

Knowing more than one language
