Account Manager, Performance Rights Services - Sony Music Entertainment - New York, NY
Responsibilities:
Determine eligible metadata to deliver to collection societies, review for quality and correctness, and deliver metadata in appropriate file format required by society. Resolve disputes – or double-claims – and withdraw claims on recordings not represented and maintain claims on recordings owned by represented record labels. Dispute resolution requires extension and efficient communication with societies, conflicting claimants, and record labels. Receive incoming royalty statements from societies and match to correct labels. Build strong relationships with collection societies, communicating clearly and frequently to ensure recordings are getting registered and disputes resolved in a timely manner. Identify inefficiencies and improve upon current processes, both internally and with societies. Perform periodic royalty audits to ensure priority recordings are registered and earning royalties from societies. Other responsibilities may arise as business needs change.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum 5 years work experience, preferably in the digital or music space. Experience working with large, messy data sets in a variety of formats. Direct experience working with music metadata a plus. Strong Excel skills a must. If DDEX and XML mean something to you, that’s a plus. Excellent communication skills, both outside the company and internally among cross-functional teams. Deadline-oriented and extremely organized. Comfortable with change, and not afraid to ask questions. Excited to interact with people at collection societies around the world. Spanish fluency a plus. Broad knowledge of music genres a plus.
