Field Education Spec AFS Latin America - Medtronic - Miami, FL
The AF Solutions (AFS) Field Training and Education Specialist supports launch activities and sales of AF Solutions products by leading the education process and serving as the field clinical and technical resource. The individual will be responsible for delivering training on products, therapies, and procedures to AF Solutions field representatives (direct and distributor), customers, other essential employees utilizing a variety of performance based learning strategies and media.
In pursuit of AF Solutions Latin American expansion priorities, this position will be primarily responsible for supporting new launches and growth in newly established markets in Latin American geographies (Portuguese and Spanish speaking). This region would be inclusive of all Latin American Countries (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and other various Latin American countries), with a particular focus on Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina. This position will ideally be based in Miami.

Position Responsibilities
Training and Education
Provide comprehensive training to identified Sales Representatives/Distributor representatives, Clinical Specialists, Field Technical Service Specialists, Country/Business Managers and Country-based Marketing team members on Arrhythmia Therapies (i.e. AF diseases, etc.), Products (Medtronic and competitive), and the safe and effective use of AFS products.
Assist in testing and evaluating trainees, assessing the results and determining additional training needs.
Oversee the field experience component of New Hire Training.
Train and support the field on new product launches.
Provide comprehensive Customer Training on the safe and effective use of Medtronic products and support the responsible Medtronic representative’s (i.e. Sales/clinical specialists) involvement in this process.
Help coordinate physician attendance at AFS training events, or as needed lead and execute local physician training events in coordination with AFS Training and Education team and Country team.
Help identify physician proctors/trainers and help enable proctoring activities.
Assist in establishing training processes and in developing materials for Field and Customer Training.
Conduct pilot training courses and participate in course reviews and curriculum development activities to review existing training materials and as new courses or products are launched.
Ensure that learner and field supplied feedback and performance/competency data is incorporated in the future programs to ensure ongoing quality, customer satisfaction and response to the changing business needs.
Help the team assess training needs based on actual knowledge and feedback from field and customers, suggest ways that training can help meet established sales and marketing objectives, and provide guidance on the delivery of educational programs.
Participate as an educational consultant and subject matter expert within project or launch teams across AFS product lines when educational programs are being planned, developed, and delivered tall target audiences.
Provide routine feedback and participate on Global Marketing Team collaboration projects regarding alignment on customer messaging and training requirements.
Assist in preparing marketing and educational presentations with physician faculty.
Field Liaison and Clinical Expertise Support
Collaborate with all Field Education Specialists and Training and Education Team.
Serve as Regional “expert” for all AFS products and continually pursue new learning relative to AF therapies.
Communicate and liaise with various marketing, country and regional stakeholders in pursuit of “seamless execution” of all Training and Education activities and successful product launches.
Represent Medtronic and proactively consult with physicians during product usage and basic follow-ups.
Serve as a clinical resource to Customers and Medtronic personnel for complex problems and troubleshooting.
General
Language: Proficient in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Training formats for Field and Customer training primarily include Classroom and didactic workshops, hands-on training with simulation technology, practicums, procedure observation/customer visits, and als1:1 customer visit programs.
Partner with all co-workers and project groups to create a positive and productive work environment and utilize network of professional resources such as Marketing, Tech Services, and Professional Relations staff to enhance the productivity of the team.
Partner with and provide subject matter expertise on Medtronic AFS products, therapies, and procedures to other members of the AFS on the team (i.e. Marketing or R&D).
Participate in conferences/congresses and at events such as User’s Meeting and symposia.
Help drive and support to get each country to become “self-sufficient” following launch.
Ability to have passport for international travel is required.
Periodically required to work weekends, evenings and nights to support field or customer programs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Associates Degree, related Technical Degree, or RN equivalent
4+ years’ experience in education, sales, marketing, or engineering roles in medical device or clinical healthcare industry experience
2+ years of EP and/or AFib experience
Previous experience as an instructor, presenter, and facilitator in a clinical or healthcare setting.
Proficient in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Bachelors in Instructional Design/Development or Education.
Tri-lingual in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
CVRT technical certification
IBHRE EP Certification (formerly known as TESTAMUR NASPExAM)
Experience with EP studies along with a mix of clinical and training responsibilities.
Experience working directly with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Prior international business travel experience an asset in countries outside of the U.S. and Western Europe.
Facilitation/instructor skills:
E-Learning knowledge and experience
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Experience working effectively on a virtual team.
Experience in curriculum development per the ADDIE model
