Accountant III Atlanta, GA

Position Overview

This position is part of Global Finance Operations supporting Corporate and North America. . It will provide balance sheet reconciliation and analytical support to accounts for various U.S. and Canadian legal entities including investment companies and operating entities. This includes but is not limited to:

Reconcile foreign and domestic cash, cash-in-transit, and accounts receivable clearing accounts.

Work with clients/partners to research and resolve reconciling items and system issues

Develop, support, lead and implement process improvement and productivity opportunities

Analyze variances and effectively communicate issues to multiple positions in Corporate and North America (e.g. Legal Entity Controller, Accounts Payable Manager, Unclaimed Property Analyst, Corporate Treasury Analyst, Treasury Accounting Manager, IT, Cash Application and Collection Specialists, Tax Manager, etc.)

Prepare and analyze cash flow statements and supplemental year-end forms

Key Responsibilities

Strong foundation of accounting standards and GAAP

Ability to compare data from various sources, identify inconsistencies and variances

Problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills

Demonstrates ability to understand end-to-end processes

Strong attention to detail and understanding of strong controls

Effective communicator with ability to translate financial information appropriate to audience

Intermediate Excel skills and basic Access skills


Functional Skills:
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles : Knowledge of international, U.S. or local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This includes the ability to apply these principles and determine compliance with the principles.

Basic Accounting Principles : Knowledge of basic accounting principles (e.g., debit and credit) around transactional processes (e.g., accruals, derivatives, benefit plans, marketing programs).

Reconciliation: Review and analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and account balances are accurately stated in accordance with GAAP and Company policies.

Control Environment: Ability to assess current controls to ensure that assets are safeguarded and that transactions are authorized, recorded, and reported. This may include designing and implementing cost-effective systems and procedures properly.

Financial Systems and Processes : Ability to research financial systems and processes (e.g., Wall Street Systems, SAP, Accounts Payable) to resolve issues (e.g. missing journal vouchers.

Basic Financial Analysis : The ability to analyze financial data (e.g., validity of data including balance sheet account balance, P and L variance, volume trends, return on investments) This includes creating spreadsheets, explaining variances, identifying issues, and making appropriate recommendations.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Finance or accounting required. CPA or MBA preferred.

Related Experience : 2+ yrs experience. Strong ERP, excel and process improvement experience. Knowledge of treasury instruments, (e.g. foreign exchange, hedging, investments, etc.)
