Contributing Editor (CE) Responsibilities:
Southern Pulse is actively recruiting young professionals to fill the position of “Contributing Editor,” a role designed to support our region-wide media analysis and reporting on daily news in Latin America. In this position, you would be assigned a specific region or sub-region in the Americas, participate in a daily cycle of information reporting and editing, and support a new line of business with Southern Pulse. The initial commitment is three months as an unpaid internship. At ninety days, you may be offered the option to extend your internship, when you will become available for project-based work, evolving into more and more paid work as time and projects allow.Possible regions include Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Northern Triangle (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize), Southern Triangle (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama), North Andes (Colombia, Ecuador), South Andes (Peru, Bolivia), Southern Cone (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay), and Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti)*Editorship can be done remotely.
Qualifications Requirements:
– CEs must be fluent in English as well as Spanish or Portuguese
– CEs should be strong writers but open to editorial guidance
– CEs should be self-motivated and hold themselves to a high standard
– CEs must sign an NDA in case they are tasked on confidential paid projects
