Commercial Chief of Staff - Spark Therapeutics, Inc. - Waltham, MA



Commercial Chief of Staff will support our market development for SPK-RPE65 in priority countries (US, France, Germany, Italy, UK, Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Canada and Spain, working in close coordination with market development activities underway globally and in the U.S.

Incumbent will play a key leadership role, becoming a trusted confidant and representing the Chief Commercial Officer’s (CCO) interests on a wide variety of strategic initiatives. He/She will navigate complex and sensitive situations, driving multiple responsibilities simultaneously while balancing progress on long-term projects with the urgency of immediate operational demands.

Commercial Chief of Staff will establish strong working relationships with internal and external contacts and will be expected to assist and/or lead strategic initiatives and special projects critical to the business. He/She will collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, building strong and sustainable business relationships while interacting with all levels of the organization. This role will require an understanding and ability to bring together our partners (such as HR, Finance) to deliver high quality business solutions.

Commercial Chief of Staff will lead and influence across all levels within Commercial to ensure that teams work towards a common goal, regardless of resource and time constraints. He/She will be responsible for facilitation of commercial departmental planning, acting as a liaison and partnering with leadership to drive their agenda across business, operations, people leadership and communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

30% of the time


  • Track and report priorities and objectives for the CCO’s staff. Track open items and due dates, work with staff to determine status and helping ensure objectives are achieved. Monitor progress in achieving objectives and ensuring effective communication of progress as needed.

  • Prepare agenda for staff meetings, capture minutes, track and follow up on action items and prepare regular reports.

  • Help organize commitments such as presentations to management committee, off sites, and other internal and external speaking engagements.

  • Coordinate requests from other seniors and work collaboratively with their offices on meeting deliverables.

  • Partner with Finance to help create, track and manage the department’s budget, financial reporting and headcount plan.

20% of the time

  • Help support the overall communication needs for the CCO to include coordinating, organizing, and managing all meetings, develop related agendas and summarize meeting minutes.

  • Create complex presentations – analyze data, determine how best to present the information, and create the slides.

  • Coordinate and work with the CCO on presentations for Board and various external constituents and working cross functionally and determine appropriate content, messaging, and presentation.

  • Maintain effective communications to all stakeholders, ensuring team interaction model is transparent and effective.

25% of the time

  • Establish excellent working relationships with the CCO’s staff and the staff of other senior executives.

  • Interact with individuals across the organization at all levels, functions and locations, providing a broad understanding of the organization while building relationships through Spark. Leverage relationships across the organization to influence, negotiate, and deliver results, while maintaining the utmost confidentiality.

  • Serve as liaison to partner functions include Finance, HR, Communications as well as other key partners across Spark.

25% of the time

  • Lead projects on an as required basis.

  • Manage tasks and responsibilities associated with the planning, directing, coordinator and support of day to day activities relating to projects and initiatives.

  • Proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic and fast paced environment

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred

  • At least 3+ years in a commercial operations or project management

  • At least 7+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals or bio pharmaceuticals, including some combination of marketing, sales, new product launch, market access and new product planning and/or commercial operations
