Senior Director, FP&A Americas Sales - Hitachi Data Systems - Santa Clara, CA

Job Overview

The Sr. Director of Americas Field Finance will provide overall financial management & support to Americas Sales Organization. The position partners with Americas business leaders to set strategic direction for organizational, operational and financial strategies relating to HDS. This requires the candidate to coach, lead, hire, retain and develop a world class financial organization. This position will report directly to the VP of Global Field Finance.


Key Job Responsibilities:
Business Partner to the SVP and GM, Americas Region and Americas Leadership team by providing insightful analysis, reporting and financial advice that results in an optimal balance of revenue, profit, cash performance to achieve AOP.


Ownership for measuring, reporting and providing analysis for P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow for required region.


Working in partnership with marketing and the business leadership to maintain a solid understanding of market conditions (disruptive technologies- Flash, new business models – Cloud). Uses market and financial data to show the impact they are having on Americas business.


Provide counsel on revenue generating deals both from a compliance and financial perspective. Challenge the assumptions to ensure quality of revenue and profit margins are maintained.


Advise on the Annual Operating Plan and monthly forecast process including financial analysis and risk appraisal.


Provide ad-hoc analysis on areas of potential risk or opportunity in advance of them becoming major issues.


Assist in Region and district quota and bonus assignment and recommendations.


Support the Region and District Sales organization with timely and valuable financial reporting to improve decision making regarding customers, resources and spend.


Be a leader in transformation by driving focused effort, simplification, elimination of non value effort and process & reporting change.


Provide sound analytical and thoughtful business decision support on ad hoc investments and other business cases.


People management, career development, hiring, coaching and training a world class financial organization that anticipates results and business trends.


Influence change and adoption of change through exceptional people leadership.

General Manager of Americas


Vice Presidents and sales leaders within the Americas


CFO and Global Finance Leadership Team


Regional Geo FP&A peers


Human Resources, Marketing


Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis and other functions (Commissions, Treasury, Tax, etc)


Key Metrics:
Financial: $1.7B Revenues


Operational: Business Partnership, Decision Support, Analysis, Reporting, Customer, Product, Spend, Measurement


Geography: US, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico – emerging countries as required


Employees: Direct a team of 6-7 including 1 Director and several Sr. Managers/Managers


Qualifications


Primary Qualifications


:


15+ or more years of experience in increasingly responsible roles within finance/financial management preferably supporting sales organizations.


Five or more years of experience in a “hands on” business partnership role; ability to demonstrate partnership successes.


Superior analytical skills with proven track record of analysis driving change.


Ability to effectively interact, influence and collaborate at a senior executive level (C Level).


Must possess the ability to challenge status quo and drive business process & design changes.


Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate others, and lead change within an organization (within and outside of Finance).


Ability to work with different cultures and across different levels of people, including Executives; strong ability to multi-task.


Self-starter with experience driving and initiating change.


Possess a track record of successfully coaching, leading, motivating and developing a highly talented financial team.


Ability to get into the detail while also seeing the big picture.


Excellent interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for an entrepreneurial environment where demands and priorities change rapidly.


Demonstrated ability in implementing best practices and reducing the cost of finance. Demonstrating a continuous improvement mindset and doing work with automation, efficiency and at the lowest cost basis.


Position location: Preference for Denver, CO, Itasca, IL, or Santa Clara, CA
